Licorice (glycyrrhiza glabra) is a mild herb, used for adrenal exhaustion and insufficiency, debility, fatigue, appetite loss, hypoglycemia, weakness and sweet cravings, high blood cholesterol, Hypersensitive lung conditions with dry, irritating cough, Irritable bowel syndrome, stomach hyperacidity and stomach ulcer.

Licorice has anti-inflammatory properties in joint pain, rheumatoid arthritis, dermatitis, ulcerative colitis, etc. Licorice also has liver protectant properties and is shown to have anti-viral properties.

Licorice is contra-indicated for those with hypertension, water retention, and high blood sugar.
