Amala Fruit Questions
Q. Explain anti aging effect of amala.
Asked by Dr Dipti Desai on June 30, 2005.A. Amla is perhaps the single most often mentioned herb in the Charaka Samhita. It is historically known as a powerful rejuvenating herb. Amla fruit is reputed to have the highest content of vitamin C of any natural occurring substances in nature. Amla fruit promotes ojas and reproductive fluids. Studies show that amla increases red blood cell count and hemoglobin percentages, and patients started their anabolic phase (metabolic processes involved in protein synthesis) sooner. The dried amla fruit reduced cholesterol levels, indicating that amla is safe to consume on a long term basis.
A research team discovered that when amla is taken regularly as a dietary supplement, it counteracts the toxic effects of prolonged exposure to environmental heavy metals, such as lead, aluminium, and nickel. Amla frut juice has 20 times more vitamin C than orange juice, and natural tannins prevent oxidation of the vitamin content in a dry condition – in other words, it is heat stable. Research studies indicate that the naturally occurring vitamin C is easier for body to absorb than the synthetic vitamin C. The Vitamin C content of amla is between 625 mg – 1814 mg per 100 grams!
Q. In cases of autoimmune diseases does amla have a stimulating affect or a modulating affect. Is it safe to take with RH?
Asked by Evelyn White on October 03, 2005.Q. Is it safe to give AMLA juice to kids when they have cold or fever. Doctors normally says to avoid orange/Sour juice when having cold.
